A Little Cat Left Home One Day

by Mary

(not the author but would like to hear full version of this poem learned in childhood)

A poem I learned in school but have forgotten some of the lines

A little cat left home one day
He went out into the world to play
He saw a mouse
He saw a bee
He saw a rat at ten to three
Now this little cat...........
.......
It must be time for tea
The world is big
And I am small
And Home is the best place, after all

Cat poem
by: Anonymous

My mother recalls learning this in Cloontia school, probably in 1945.
To her recollection it goes
"A little cat left home one day
And went out into the world to play
He saw a cow, he saw a bee,
He saw a rat at ten past three
This cat got not a bit to eat
He got no milk, he got no meat
At last he said it seems to me
I must go home and get my tea.
The world is big and I am small
And is the best place after all."
